Workshop with Axel Killian whose focus is on computational design. This workshop focused on interconnecting technology and software with architectural design to produce architecture. Working on a 1:1 scale, what was produced was more than just a machine but a robot that reacts when approached and hides in its body giving it characteristics of cuteness and shyness. The most common question by far was, "What's its name?"  There is no name for "it", it exists as it is.

The first half of the workshop focused on learning how to use Arduino. Soon after came the design that would house the components. From some sketches to then a 3D model the form was finalized. Time and cost constraints required a mixed mode of construction for the body. A grasshopper script to create a 3D puzzle effect for the physical construction of the model. Assembly of the laser-cut acrylic, 3D printing, handmade pieces, Arduino code scripting and testing, and servo and ultrasonic connections were majorly done within the last week of the workshop.
